Start your collection of Vitra Miniatures
Although they may be little, the Vitra Miniatures are a big hit with collectors, especially those that appreciate good design at any scale.
Vitra is a furniture manufacturer that has collaborated with international designers since the early fifties when founder Willi Fehlbaum met Ray and Charles Eames. Inspired by their passion for innovation and sustainability of design, Vitra has collaborated to create an amazing range of timeless and revolutionary design pieces.
The Vitra Design Museum was later established to examine and preserve this design story and started making the Vitra Miniatures 20 years ago so that design schools could use them in classes.
These little cuties have become so much more than study aids! While they may be great tools for designers and students of design, the miniatures have now become real collectors’ items that are increasingly valuable.
Attention to detail makes a perfect miniature
The chairs are all to scale and are exactly one sixth the size of the originals. So, as with all good design, they are great to look at and make an interesting display piece. But the quality of the reproductions means you also get a true sense of the materials used and a certain feel for time and place.
Own a piece of history
The collection of more than 100 pieces has grown to become a reflection of the history of design, with each miniature representing a milestone in the story of industrial furniture.
If you appreciate good design but you don’t have enough room for the full-scale pieces, subscribe to Collécte in February (between February 19th - 26th, 2022) and you could win your very own piece of design history. The Wassily Chair by Marcel Breuer (1925) or the Zig Zag Stoel by Gerrit T. Rietveld (1934) could be yours!
