“It is about thinking through the way people really like to live, behind closed doors” – Beatrix Rowe.
Beatrix Rowe and her team create spaces that are a dream to live in. Their use of carefully curated materials, inspired furniture selections and custom designed features, ensure every space is warm and inviting and fits closely with the client’s brief.
The Beatrix Rowe Interior Design (BRID) team work on a portfolio of interior spaces from larger residential projects through to bespoke commissions with the primary focus for all projects being contemporary design of the highest quality and detail.
After graduating from RMIT Interior design, Beatrix worked for John Wardle Architects and Hecker Phelan & Guthrie (now Hecker Guthrie) before starting her own studio in 2003.
The ever-talented Beatrix also has a product design arm to her studio where she has designed the Como mirror in collaboration with Grazia & Co and the J19 range of handmade sculptures.
Describe your style in 6 words or less.
Beatrix: Authentic, understated, considered, detail focused, collaborative, thoughtful.
Which architects/designers most inspire you?
Beatrix: Australian designers. I’ve been inspired by how the Australian design community has shown such support of each other and solidarity, particularly over the last year in the face of all the challenges thrown at us. Not only are we world class, we’re also a very special community of people.
Who’s a favourite you’re following on Instagram at the moment?
Beatrix: I always love seeing what @notedesignstudio are up to
What is your go to white interior paint colour?
Beatrix: Dulux Natural White but we’re also loving the Porters or Bauwerk ranges when we’re after more movement and a chalkier feel on the walls.
What is your most cherished piece at home? (furniture, art, lighting or decorative)
Beatrix: Our Robert Owen wall sculpture that we were given from all the guests at our wedding 20 years ago. I continually grow more in love with it. Obviously, there’s many sentimental things in my home that I cherish, and could also make it on the list, but I continually marvel at this sculpture’s beauty, even after all this time.

If you could splurge on a piece of furniture or art right now, what would it be?
Beatrix: Where do I start? Let the dreams begin! If I must narrow it down to just one thing, I’ve always coveted a Lucia Mercer Stump Table – an oldie but a goodie! I love the simple, strong form and enduring qualities.
Do you have a trade tip you can share?
Beatrix: Save up and buy original, quality pieces. No copies!
