Set of six 18th century elm ladder-back chairs, shaped top rail and back with four serpentine-shaped horizontal slats, solid Elm wood panelled seats over hand shaped legs. Turned front stretcher with side and back stretchers. This is a rare and unique conforming set of six Elm, individually hand made country chairs dating from the 1780s. They are of medium size and likely unsuitable for heavy people and use. Structurally perfect condition. Exceptional depth of finish and colour.
