Polder Leather Sofa

Designed in 2005 by Hella Jongerius, the Polder sofa is named after the Dutch way of organising the landscape, reclaiming artificial land from the sea. With its flat services low slung body and horizontal emphasis, the Polder sofa evokes the characteristic features of the Dutch landscape. The seat cushions of the Polder sofa form an asymmetrical seating surface flanked on both sides by the upholstered body. A low armrest is integrated on one end of the polder sofa, while the other end is boarded by an adjoining platform that also serves as a surface for placing books or trays. The upholstered materials are exclusively developed for Vitra by Hella Jongerius and can be easily removed for cleaning thanks to simple fasting device and a series of buttons. The reddish colour of the stitching and the buttons against a background of dark brown high grade premium leather. The lounge is in very good condition with very minor scuffs as photographed.
