Rare teak highboard/Sideboard by Poul M. Jessen

Super rare Poul M. Jessen teak highboard, manufactured by PMJ Viby Møbler, Denmark, circa 1965–1969, during the golden era of Danish Mid-Century Modern design. A beautifully preserved example of Danish craftsmanship, featuring a graceful curved teak façade, distinctive original cat’s-eye handles, and an elegant integrated cocktail cabinet with mirrored interior. The contrasting dark timber cocktail drawers (possibly mahogany or another complementary hardwood) are lined in their original green felt. The four lower drawers are beautifully crafted in light birch and all operate smoothly. The interior presents in exceptionally fresh condition, with the sliding doors all moving freely. The rich teak has developed a wonderful rich patina over the decades, and the cabinet remains in outstanding overall condition. As expected of a genuine sixty-year-old piece, there are a few small historic bumps, scuffs and signs of age. In particular, there are historic repairs to both lower rear corners. One repair is almost invisible, while the other is noticeable on close inspection and could be professionally restored if desired. These imperfections are confined to discreet areas and do not detract from the beauty, presentation or functionality of the piece. Inspection is welcome. Additional photographs or can also be arranged for genuine buyers on request. Please contact hello@collecte.com.au if you require a shipping quote.
