Large Bamboo and Rattan Lidded Basket

Hand constructed from split bamboo and rattan, this large vintage lidded basket has a cylindrical woven body held within four substantial bamboo uprights, each continuing below the basket as a short foot. A closely fitted domed lid is finished with a broad bamboo rim and traditional rattan lashings, while the herringbone weave continues across both body and lid. At 80cm high, its uncommon scale gives it genuine storage capacity while allowing it to hold its own as a freestanding furnishing rather than a small domestic container. The pale natural fibres, visible bindings and disciplined geometry bring warmth and texture to a bedroom, living room or covered interior space. Conditioned for presence and atmosphere with age appropriate wear expected of a vintage piece.
