Spear Dreaming by Lindsay Bird Mpetyane.
This painting was purchased in 2010 whilst travelling with our family in Alice Springs. It's time for this painting with all its stories to start a new life.
Lindsay's painting represents spear dreaming. The spears are made from selected limbs of the mulga tree. Concentric circles represent the Mulga Trees and background dotting represent the Mulga seed. Limbs selected for the spears are reasonably straight but heat from the fire will make any adjustments. Throughout the making of the spears the men are singing their dreaming. Lindsay's dreamings include Mulga Seed dreaming, and a great deal of significance is placed on this tree.
